Introducing The ‘Married At First Sight’ Australia Couples For 2026, So Far

The good, the bad, and the truly cursed

Another season of Married At First Sight Australia is upon us, and the 2026 couples are already delivering the drama we’ve come to expect from this truly chaotic show. For those unfamiliar, the hit reality series follows singles who agree to marry complete strangers, matched by a panel of relationship experts who believe they’ve found their “perfect partner”.

From the very first time they meet on their wedding day, drama has already ensued. From forgotten wedding rings and criminal aspirations (kind of, more on that later) to questionable priorities and missing grooms, the 2026 Married At First Sight cast has wasted no time making their mark. The experts have once again matched strangers based on compatibility, chemistry, and the promise of finding lasting love — but as always, the path to happily ever after is anything but straightforward.

Alissa isn’t ashamed to admit that she has a bold personality, but this proved to be true when she reached David at the end of the aisle and said she wouldn’t marry him until he got down on one knee and proposed to her properly. The only problem? After a pregnant pause… he refuses to.

Finally, David relents even though his groomsmen urge him not to, and he admits it “seemed like a red flag moment” for him. When Alissa then says “Jesus Christ”, that’s a double red flag for our very religious David. At the reception, his friends warn him that his wife seems a bit full on, but when she apologises to David and performs a worm on the dance floor, all seems to be forgiven.

Rachel and Steven seem pretty well matched when they head into their wedding day, even if only for the fact that they’ve both been similarly unlucky in love. But Rachel has expressed that all she’s really looking for is a nice man who compliments her and is proud to introduce her to his family, so when they reach the photoshoot portion of the day and realise there hasn’t been a compliment in sight, it complicates things.

When she confronts him, he seems genuinely shocked. “I really dropped the ball there as a groom,” he says, admitting that he thinks she looks great. Cue them laughing into the sunset together… for now, at least.

The moment Bec stepped onto the top of the aisle at her wedding, she thought Danny could be a good fit. But when Danny started making jokes about looking for a “Bonnie and Clyde type of love” with a woman who will “bail me out”, it all became a bit much for Bec. “I just want something serious, I don’t want to be with anyone who gets arrested,” Bec said through tears.

Quickly, Bec confronts Danny about her concerns and essentially tells him the crown brooch he’s wearing is heinous, without realising she would soon become the lucky recipient of said brooch. By the time their reception rolled around, Bec’s overwhelm had somewhat subsided and Danny presents the brooch to her. “I think it’s heinous but I love the gesture,” she says. It appears they’ve already learned how to compromise together, which could bode well for the future/

Brook And Chris

Apparently Chris is the kind of guy who has plenty of confidence in himself. Enough confidence in fact that he doesn’t trust the MAFS process or the experts, but still does believe he belongs to be here. Cool!

Unfortunately, on his wedding day, he was struck down with a serious case of the negative Nancys and complains endlessly about the rain, though he does seem to perk up when he sees his gorgeous model wife-to-be, and decides everything might be okay. “Brook’s attractive, what do you want me to f*cking say?!” he says. Charming. By the end of the day, Brook’s kind of icked out by how much of a “dive” Chris is being but still wants to give this thing her best shot.

Unfortunately for Brook, things only got worse in subsequent episodes when Chris made repeated, vile fatphobic comments, saying “Fat people, no go,” when asked what his turn offs are. Sadly, none of the men in the room called him out.

Gia And Scott

This one is an interesting pairing, and not only because of comments made by one of the experts. “These two have the potential for the highest level of sexual chemistry we’ve ever seen on Married At First Sight,” predicts expert Alessandra Rampolla ahead of their wedding. Gia is fiery and Scott is obsessed with his jobs, and apparently this is a good fit, with Scott’s own mother saying she hopes Gia will be good for her “boring” son.

At the reception, Gia spirals when her uncle (there’s always an uncle…) lets slip that she’s a mother, but thankfully, Chris isn’t worried. Cue him removing her garter with his teeth and maybe Rampolla was correct about their, uh, love match after all.

Mel And Luke

It seems that it might be smooth sailing for Mel and Luke as they start their wedding days, both speaking to the camera about their hopes for a relationship. In short, he’s looking for a girly girl and she’s looking for a manly man. But when Luke realises on the way to the ceremony that he’s forgotten the rings and then runs late for the entire thing, it doesn’t give Mel the best first impression.

When she shows up and notices the groom is missing, and one of his mates jokes that the wedding is off (nice one, mate), Mel starts to panic. It only gets worse when he spits his gum into his sister’s hand mid-ceremony, but they persevere and say their vows. Alas, as the day wears on, Mel just can’t see past his gaffe and though he apologies many, many times, she is still gutted. “I just don’t feel like I got my fairytale. I don’t feel like Meg Ryan in You’ve Got Mail,‘ she says through tears. Can they overcome it? I guess we’ll find out.
