A few years ago, we saw a huge shift away from the enduring skinny jeans trend. Though there have been whispers that the slim silhouette may be returning, wider leg and straight styles still dominate every street style gallery at fashion week in 2025.

Best for: Classic denim
The Levi’s brand has been synonymous with denim since 1873, when Levi Strauss created a blue denim overall after identifying the need for hard-wearing pants during the Californian gold rush. In the 150 years since, Levi’s has expanded its offering to include women’s and children’s denim in just about every silhouette, fabric weight and wash. We’re still partial to the label’s classic straight-leg 501 jeans, though admittedly, the wider and barrel leg cuts have stolen our focus in recent years.
Best for: Vintage-inspired fits
Australian denim label, Rolla’s, embodies the relaxed lifestyle we all know (and love) so well. The brand focuses on vintage washes and clean silhouettes for the classic jean lover, and regularly collaborates with stylish women for limited edition collections. Most recently, Rolla’s released a range of barrel jeans with Helena Christensen, and a baggier style with Aussie fashion influencer Rozalia.
Best for: Nostalgic Denim
Rooted in noughties nostalgia, Diesel has become the denim brand of choice for those who champion creativity and self-expression. Under Glenn Martens’ creative direction, the label reimagines iconic silhouettes from the past, challenging convention while delivering modern, ultra-relevant—and entirely wearable—denim.
Neuw
Best for: polished denim styles
Founded in 2009 by three friends from Melbourne and Stockholm, Neuw is the denim label for people who want to feel polished an put together in a pair of jeans. The Nico straight-leg jeans in French Blue has been one of our go-to styles for years, with a rigid, non-stretch fabric that looks both effortless with a pair of thongs and sophisticated with boots.
Best for: Viral denim
Tall girls likely already have a pair of Henne’s Valentina jeans hanging in their wardrobe. The local label, founded by Nadia Bartel, has become a go-to for denim-lovers, with the Valentina and Gisella being standout styles for anyone looking for a reliable and flattering pair of jeans. These styles are on the longer side, which is perfect for people on the taller side — though shorties may need to cuff or hem their pair.
Best for: Affordable trends
COS has long delivered on reliable, well-fitting wardrobe staples, and the brand’s denim offering is no different. In particular, COS’s straight-leg column jeans are universally loved by fashion girls. Made from 80 per cent organic cotton and 20 per cent recycled cotton, these breathable jeans have a satisfying weight that makes them extra flattering, and they’re available in five washes
Best for: Denim outerwear
In recent years, Camilla and Marc has cemented itself as a popular denim destination, and not just for its jeans. Along with slouchy jean silhouettes, people fell in love with denim co-ords, dresses, and of course, the now-iconic denim trench coat. Now available in white denim, the trench is a transeasonal staple.
Best for: Going out jeans
Agolde jeans takes cues from tried and tested denim silhouettes, adding a modern twist that makes these the perfect going-out jeans. Asymmetric waistlines and angled zips add interest to straight leg jeans, while innovative fabrications make even the simplest pair of jeans that bit more special. Agolde takes a firm stance on sustainability, with production taking place within the brand’s own factories in Los Angeles and Turkey, plus, it utilises regenerative and recycled cotton and an eco-indigo dye that’s gentler on the environment.
Best for: Wide and bootleg jeans
Co-founded in 2004 by Paige Adams-Geller (one of the industry’s top fit models at the time), PAIGE is a brand committed to designing well-fitting and flattering garments above all else. The label started as a women’s denim brand but has since expanded into other categories and menswear. But we’ll always gravitate towards the retro silhouettes that PAIGE does so beautifully, such as the extra-wide bootleg and high-rise denim styles.
Best for: Relaxed cuts
As the name hints, SLVRLAKE is an LA-born denim brand that designs relaxed styles you’ll want to wear every day. The brand’s loose-fit jeans are still incredibly flattering, cinching in just enough at the waist or hip, and if you’re still trying to find the perfect not-skinny jean that still fits closer to the leg, the London straight leg should strike the right balance for you.
Best for: Luxury tailoring
Khaite is a brand that effortlessly melds effortlessly refined cuts with luxury craftsmanship. It’s the ultimate “if you know, you know” brand, and the denim collections usually feature classic cuts alongside more interesting styles with a subtle edge. Whether through the signature black and vintage gold button fastening or pristine tailoring, Khaite pieces make a statement in your wardrobe without being too loud about it.
Best for: Distressed and oversized denim
Acne Studios isn’t a wallflower kind of label. With endless baggy options, the denim collections often feature rips, distressed dyeing, and painted panelling. Acne takes a unisex approach to design, which means the jeans are suitable for tall people and often run as a true oversized fit.
Best for: Basics, done well
When Erik Torstensson and Jens Grede founded Frame in 2012, they did so with just one item: the Le Skinny de Jeanne. The goal was to create one exceptional product to market the hell out — and that’s exactly what they did. Though Frame still sells that signature skinny style (in fact, the brand recently released a limited edition version with Alix Earle), the brand has become more known for well-fitting jeans more generally, and we’re fans of the Le Sleek Straight style, which is more of a straight-leg update to the brand’s first iteration of the skinny jean.
Best for: High quality, at attainable prices
Australian Assembly Label is like that one friend you can always rely on to do exactly what they say they’re going to. The prices are reasonable without any compromise on construction or quality, and there is full transparency on all suppliers on the brand’s website. The denim shorts are some of our favourites, with boxy designs that don’t hug too closely to the thigh.
Best for: Trend-resistant straight styles
Toteme was founded in 2014 by Swedish couple Elin Kling and Karl Lindman, and quickly cemented its reputation for luxury minimalist designs. It may have been the label’s scarf coats that captured (and firmly held) our attention over the past year, but the slim-fitting ‘90s silhouettes are the staples we want in our wardrobes through every season.
